SM059 - TELEPHONE - Diagnostic Capabilities (Read Fault Codes)
Reads the fault code memory. The ECU can self detect up to 10 different problems with itself, its wiring and its associated sensors, storing the respective code if it detects any malfunction or reading outside of pre defined acceptable limits. Not all stored faults may cause the fault warning lamp to illuminate.

SM059 - TELEPHONE - Diagnostic Capabilities (Settings)
Values, configuration settings, and other stored information which can be read from the ECU, edited and then rewritten back. Read settings can also be stored as a standard HTML page for reference. These pages can then later be re loaded and re written back to the ECU. Please note that some values may be read only due to the fact that they are supplied from the ECU’s ROM or are internally calculated.

  • Part Number: This is the manufacturer's part number for the ECU.
  • Hardware number: This is the hardware version which denotes the processor and circuit board type.
  • Software number: This denotes the coding inside the processor for the hardware.
  • Supplier number: This is a number which defines the supplier using a standard look up list of supplier ECU manufacturer numbers.
  • Coding index: This is the coding identification for the programming maps.
  • Diagnostic index: This is a number that indicates the diagnostic capabilities support level.
  • Bus index: This is a number that indicates the bus communication support level, the vehicle communication buses.
  • Week of build: This is the week in which the unit was built.
  • Year of build: This is the year in which the unit was built.
  • Instrument Pack Type: This is a numerical value between 1 and 7, normally 1 for Range Rover which denotes the instrument pack type.
  • Vehicle Telematics: This is enabled or disabled - when enabled it allows the vehicle's onboard systems to send information via the telephone to any potential receiver.
  • Telematics Position: This enables the vehicle to report its current position via GPRS through the telematic system.
  • Telematics Navigation Targets: This allows the telematic system to report as programmed satellite navigation targets.
  • Telematics Park Heater: This enables the telematic system to report if the park heater is on or not.
  • Telematics Telephone Book: This allows the telematic system to transmit entries within the telephone book.
  • Telematics Wake Up: enabled or disabled - when enabled this means that the on board telephone system will wake up in order to transmit a message.
  • Telematics Wake Up Time in Minutes: This is a numerical value from 0 to 127 which defines the period between telematic transmissions. The number is multiplied by 5 to give the desired amount of minutes so if the number is set to 1 it will be 5 minutes, set to 2 it will be 10 minutes and so on.
  • Mobile Type: This is a code which denotes the type of mobile hand set that is used with the system. For Range Rover this is 4 and may be different for other manufacturers.
  • Telematics Wake Up Duration: This is the number of days that the auto wake up system will continue for after the ignition is last switched off. The default for the Range Rover is 3 days, this means that after 3 days if the telematic system is active or during 3 days if the telematic system is active the telematic system will wake up at the previously defined period in order to transmit information as to the vehicle's whereabouts and so on according to the other settings.
  • Ignition Off Active Time Hours: This is the period of time after the ignition has been switched off that the phone will remain on for.
  • Ignition Off Active Time Minutes: This is the period of time after the ignition has been switched off that the phone will remain on for.
  • Speed Independence Volume: This is a value, normally 26 for the Range Rover, which adjusts the speed independence volume relationship for the telephone when it is in usage. So that when the car is driven faster the telephone is louder. The number increases the amount of loudness that the volume is increased by.
  • Speed Volume Steps: This is the step which is used to increment the volume. The step is in kilometres per hour. Normal settings for Range Rover is 9 - this means every 9 kilometres per hour increment the volume will increase by 1 step and similarly for decreasing.
  • Speed Debug: The normal value for the speed debug is zero.
  • Coding Data: A specific block of programmable data stored in the ECU to control its functionality for specific variations of vehicle. There are a number of hexadecimal digits, each digit separated by a comma. Re-entered parameters should be entered in an identical format to that which is read. Changing this values can produce unknown alteration in the functionality of the ECU, damage the ECU or even damage your car.

Realtime live display of the information the electronic control unit of the selected vehicle system is currently deriving from its input sensors.

  • WDCT: This displays the state of the wireless digital cord less telephone signal. This basically tells it if there is a radio link between the hand set and the base unit.
  • Charging Signal 1: This is the state of the charging signal input 1.
  • Charging Signal 2: This is the state of the charging signal input 2.
  • DSP Audio Status: This denotes if the digital signal processor is on or off.
  • Mute Status: This denotes if the system is muted or not.
  • Navigation Data Status: This displays if data is being sent from the navigation computer or data is not being sent from the navigation computer.
  • Auxiliary Status: This displays the status of the telephone auxiliary input - if the input is on or off.
  • Navigation Status: This denotes if the navigation data enable signal is on or off.
  • GSM Connection: This is the status of the GSM connection active signal - when it is on, the GSM connective active signal is on.
  • Handset Status: This denotes if the handset is on or off.
  • Battery Voltage: This is the voltage of the battery supplied to the telephone system.

SM059 - TELEPHONE - Diagnostic Capabilities (Other)
  • Register: This is for registration of the replacement handsets. The sequence is to press the register button then within 30 seconds enter the default pin code on the telephone - the default pin code is 0000. This will then register the handset to the vehicle. The radio on/off switch located underneath the handset needs to be switched on.
  • Deregister: This deregisters the currently registered handset from the system. The handset will after some time show that it is deregistered on the screen. This can be accelerated by turning the handset off and on again to see the not registered message. The radio on/off switch located underneath the handset needs to be switched on.
  • Reset: This erases any stored pin codes and resets to 0000 in the handset and telephone.
